Promethazine (Phenergan) - Side Effects, Dosage, Interactions - Drugs

Promethazine also prevents motion sickness, and treats nausea and vomiting or pain after surgery. It is also used as a sedative or sleep aid. Promethazine is not.

It is not known whether promethazine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not receive this medication without ling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Nausea/Vomiting.

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. l your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Do not take promethazine by mouth. It is for use only in your rectum.

Promethazine 12.5 mg MAL, white, round.

Promethazine injection is usually given for only a short time until no longer needed or until you can take promethazine by mouth.

Do not take promethazine rectal by mouth.

Promethazine is used to relieve or prevent the symptoms of hay fever, allergic conjunctivitis (inflammation of the eye), and other types of allergy or allergic reactions. It works by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine, which is produced by the body. Histamine can cause itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. It can sometimes close up the bronchial tubes (air passages of the lungs) and make breathing difficult.
