Is Tramadol HCL an opiate?

Tramadol IS a synthetic opioid. It is considered an "Opioid Analgesic" and does work like some SNRI antidepressants, which can (very rarely!).

Recently prescribed Tramadol for Fibromyalgia pain. Also take Cymbalta. Reading up on Tramadol makes it sound like it is addictive and maybe should not be used with anti-depressants like Cymbalta.

I think most of my post was directed towards aleesha's post, whom I incorrectly referred to as the original poster. Hope this clarifies. Ugh. Sometimes being an enthusiastic newbie on a message board has its growing pains.
