What Are the Ingredients in Tussionex?

Tussionex is available approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for sale by prescription Tussionex is a prescription cough syrup.

Within a 5 ml dose of Tussionex is chlorpheniramine polistirex equal to 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate. Chlorpheniramine acts as an antihistamine, or H1 receptor antagonist. It works by preventing the release of histamine from the dilating capillaries. It also stops histamine from causing swelling within the respiratory mucosa. The chemical makeup of chlorpheniramine polistirex is sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer complex with 2-[p-chloro-α--benzyl]pyridine.
