Cold water extraction is the process whereby a substance is extracted from a in Codeine/Paracetamol(Acetaminophen) formulations, Zaldiar and Vicodin.

Cold water extraction is the process whereby a substance is extracted from a mixture via cold water. It is a type of fractional crystallization.

This process works by exploiting the differences in solubility (with respect to temperature) of different substances in a mixture. It is commonly used to separate out opiate -derived drugs that have been mixed with common non-opiate-based analgesics, such as are found in Codeine / Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) formulations, Zaldiar and Vicodin.

The process generally involves taking a mixture of substances, dissolving them in warm water, and then rapidly cooling the mixture. The insoluble compounds precipitate out of the water, while the soluble ones stay dissolved. The solution can then be separated by filtration or decantation.

A cold water extraction is most commonly used to remove paracetamol, and end up with roughly the same amount of codeine as the tables.

Many opioids such as Vicodin and Percocet contain other harmful drugs. A cold water extraction is most commonly used to remove paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen and hereafter referred to as APAP. CWE also works with aspirin and, to a lesser extent, ibuprofen, which are all very toxic in high doses and overdoses may result in permanent damage to your liver.

6. Put this glass in the freezer for around 20-25 minutes dependent on how cold your freezer is. Ensure that you don’t let it freeze as that will render the Codeine useless. After this give it another pretty gentle stir and pop it in the fridge for a good 15 minutes or so.

Follow these instructions and you could find yourself with a significantly purer Codeine solution, meaning that you can do whatever you want to do with the Codeine without having to worry about the physically destructive nature of too much Paracetamol!
