Can you give cough syrup to a 2 year old? - BabyCenter

My son is 2 and has had a bad cough for about 1 week or so and it seems to be getting a little worse and I was wondering if I could give him any.

I would take him to the doctor. Cough syrups are not recommended for children.

My doctor prescribed my dd a cough suppressant last winter. It was sooo nice that she could finally sleep again. It was an endless cycle with her not sleeping well due to coughing, but not being able to get well due to her not sleeping well. Ugh. I was so happy when that was over! Chrissy Alivia 9-11-07.

try a spoonfull of honey w/ lemon juice mixed into a little warm water.

There are prescription cough medicines that your doc can prescribe.
